Editorial policy
Everyday Film Culture aims to make careful, readable work about the everyday experience of film. Our articles should be clear about what is known, what is interpretation and what is a matter of preference.
Accuracy and sourcing
We check factual statements against suitable sources and take care with names, dates and historical claims. Where a point is uncertain or interpretations differ, we say so rather than smoothing over the distinction. We do not present taste as fact.
Independence and labels
Editorial decisions are made for reader interest, not to promise favourable coverage. Any paid, sponsored or partner material is clearly identified as such, with its relationship to the partner made visible. A partnership does not guarantee editorial coverage.
Corrections
If a reader spots an error, they can send the article detail and correction through the Contact page. We review credible reports and correct material when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.
Images and illustration
Images should support the subject and be used with appropriate permissions or attribution. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; these are identified where they appear so readers can distinguish illustration from documentary imagery.
Watching is part of film culture
A film is also the room, company and routine around it. We pay attention to those ordinary details without treating one way of watching as the right one.
